3Dsensation at CES 2021

3Dsensation will present intelligent robots for logistics and retail at CES 2021 ALL-DIGITAL from January 12-13.

Project partners wanted

In order to further promote the development of 3D technology in the future, research infrastructure laboratories have been created and are now waiting for project partners.

3Dsensation Whitepaper handed over

7 years of research on the safe and efficient interaction of man, machine and environment were recorded in the 3Dsensation whitepaper and handed over to the BMBF.

3Dsensation Innovation Award 2020

The "3Dsensation Innovation Prize" was awarded for the first time at the general meeting 2020. Two project teams can be happy about this award.

Government funding program Zwanzig20

The consortium 3Dsensation aims at fundamentally redefining man-machine-interaction. Human interaction with machines and technological systems of any kind is to be organized more natural, intuitive, secure and efficient. For this, it is necessary to match man-machine-interaction to human needs and experiences.

Goals of the consortium

Image capturing and image reproduction are on the brink of revolutionary changes. 200 years after the discovery of photography, the first devices for the three-dimensional recording and reproduction of object information are available. In order to exploit the potentials of 3D image processing in the pioneering fields of information, production, mobility and security, the intersectoral cooperation between science and industry has to be intensified. Therefore, the Fraunhofer IOF applied to become the initiator of the consortium 3Dsensation in the framework of the government funding program “Twenty20 – Partnership for Innovation”.

The goal of the consortium is the interdisciplinary combination of competencies in optics/photonics, IT/software engineering and electronics with those from the fields of design, neuroscience, cognitive science and human factors science.

Revolution of man-machine-interaction

Transdisciplinary and intersectoral approach of 3Dsensation

In order to achieve the strategic goal, the development of a new generation of 3D technologies for image processing, information processing and visualization is advanced in a transdisciplinary and intersectoral research approach. Research projects from cognitive science, neuroscience, social science and human factors science as well as creative science and information technology are integrated. The matrix structure of the consortium enables an effective combination of topics from research and development as well as the extensive use of synergetic potentials beyond the declared demand area.
