There is no non-contact measuring principle with which one can measure "everything". The right measuring system for the respective task has to be found. In the case of the 3D measurement of black or transparent objects, hardly usable scattered light is generated, so that active projection methods operating in the visual wavelength range are hardly usable without applying scattering layers additionally.

The aim of the project "W3D" is to develop a new measuring system that allows a 3D image of objects based on heat images.
