I³ - Single Sensor 3D

3D capture of dynamic objects based on a single camera

3D capture of real objects is usually carried out either by means of specialized devices such as laser scanners and structured light systems or by complex, calibrated structures with several synchronized cameras. Such systems, however, are usually very complex and expensive or provide small spatial resolutions. Moreover, they are generally not suitable for dynamic, i.e. moving and, in particular, deforming subjects, and require an explicit positioning of the subject or the active cooperation of the person that needs to be detected.

The aim of the project "Single Sensor 3D" is to develop a novel system for high-resolution 3D capturing of dynamic objects, which requires only a single camera for recording and at the same time provides detailed texture and geometry information.
